He started pacing, back and forth, passing the foot of her bed every few seconds. Keiji noted that she was uncomfortable, and he wondered if he'd been the cause of it. He was acting rather strange, so unlike his usually playful and positive self. With some effort he pushed the anger away and gave her a genuine smile, stopping at the foot of her bed. He wasn't here so he could depress her or make her upset in any way. Keiji leaned his elbows on the railing at the foot of her bed, and let the smile reach his eyes. The crystal blue sparked as if from an inner light, and his expression turned to one of pure joy.
He wanted to entertain her, make her time in that bed a little more bearable. But what could he do? He didn't know much about her. Maybe he could play cards, or do tarot cards, lay beside her and play the "i spy" game? Those were all games he'd learned from humans, so he didn't know if she knew of them...
Maybe Ronja needed something more intimate, but yet again, she was injured from head to toe --or so he'd heard-- and he didn't want to cause her pain. He walked around the bed and sat beside her again. Perhaps the best solution would be to ask what she wished to do! "Would you like to do something to pass the time?"

Ronja smiled, but sighed. "Yes, but I don't know what to do. I've never been a sit in person." And she hadn't, she'd rather go running or dancing or something like that. She had never been into books or quiet conversations really. She liked to talk, but not while doing nothing. She was too expressive. So she had a shortage of things to do now, she spent most of her time lying around counting ceiling tiles and waiting for Nicholas to have a free moment to at least amuse her.
"I want to be better," She grumbled, her lips pulling together in a pout. Ronja was sick of scars, being waited on and not moving. She wanted to get out and live, she wanted to gain strength since she already has speed. She wanted to be able to feel proud and brave again. She wanted to know that she was worth something, that she wasn't just a waste of space who knew so little. Rad had destroyed her self esteem and sitting here would not get it back.

Keiji felt horrible for her, but that feeling would do nothing to help her. So he tried hard to think of something to entertain her with. He'd hoped she would have had something in mind, but she didn't so it was up to him! They couldn't do anything with a lot of physical movement, so dancing or sex were out of the question. Maybe he would get his tarot cards. He'd learned about them on one of his trips to the city, at a carnaval.
"I have something you might like!"
The kelpie gave her a bright smile then got off the bed and hurried out of the room and then her chambers. His rooms were a floor below, so he hurried along the halls, his boots thumping against the marble floors. He rushed into his room and found the obviously used stack of tarot cards. The kelpie then quickly made his way back to Ronja's rooms. He was about to go back in when the guard who obviously disliked him put a spear in front of him, blocking his way.
"I was just here..."
The guard didn't budge and Keiji could feel his temper rise up again, his blue eyes giving off sparks. He took a step closer to the guard, getting into his personal space, and he tilted his head so he could look at his face properly, "Do not fuck with me."
The other guard's eyes widened and he quickly hurried into Ronja's rooms to get her permission that Keiji could come in once more. He hurried back and gave Keiji a pleading look and a nod. Keiji resisted the urge to snarl but reluctantly got out of the other guard's personal space. He went inside and walked into Ronja's bedroom, obviously in a sour mood yet again.

Ronja was rather annoyed with a guards when they didn't just let Keiji in. Waiting for him felt like forever because she was excited and when he came in looking sour, she almost wanted to laugh. "I swear to god I'll get them," She shook her head looking at the door. She should really leave a list of names with them, basically anyone who wasn't Rad could come in really...
Ronja pursed her lip and climbed out of bed. Her head swam a little but she didn't let on as she marched herself to the door anf flung it open. "Keiji is always allowed in my room, and if you come in to ask me if he's allowed in one more time, I'll have you both replaced." And with that, she slammed the door again and marched back into bed, where she sighed, tried from the effort. But it had been worth it. Stupid guards.
"Now," Ronja said, sitting up as best she could. "What did you bring back with you?" She asked, her eyes falling to his hands, in which he obviously had something.

Keiji couldn't help but drop the gloom a little, laughing at her words for the guards. He settled down on the end of her bed, his expression considerably more positive. Keiji took off his boots and crossed his legs. He nearly told her to get herself back into bed, but she did so before he could open his mouth. His smile was pleased.
"I learned how to do this at a carnaval from a mortal...[/royalblue]"
He took the deck of cards out of their box, and set the pile on the bed. "This is a the way some mortals can in a way predict their future, they can also decide what do do in a situation." Keiji stroked a hand over the cards, almost affectionately.
"I thought this would be a good way to spend time without using your body too much." He hoped that she was up to this. Keiji had liked tarot cards since the first time he'd seen them used by a mortal woman dressed in dark red satin, her skin the colour of Ronja's.
"You need to shuffle the cards yourself...and then i'm going to spread them out face down and you pick five. You don't flip them over big give them to me and I can lay them out." He gave her his usual bright smile and handed her the deck of cards.
[ooc: did you want me to pick what cards she picks or did you wanna do that? here's linky to all the cards [: www.paranormality.com/tarot_meanings.shtml]

Ronja smiled lightly and gingerly took the card from him, still trying to look like she wasn't in any pain, and started to shuffle the cards. They flicked pleasantly under her fingers, a bit larger than normal human playing cards. She'd only played cards once, with a kitchen boy when she was much younger, but she still remembered how to shuffle. She was very good at remembering physical movements. She wasn't really sure if she trusted these cards though, it was really luck wasn't it? But it would still be interesting to see what they said.
Ronja wondered what sort of tale they would tell, what was coming for her? Death--by Rad, in the war, of something else... Love, for real not just another silly game... What would these bits of hard paper tell her, and would she believe them?
She handed him back the deck and waited as he spread them out. Ronja lifted her hands over the cards and closed her eyes, as if hoping energy would fly from the cards she wanted. The lady opened her eyes again though and bit her lip, gingerly picking up five at random. She might be a little too practical for this, but worth a short. And she was curious.

He watched with intent eyes as Ronja shuffled the cards. Then his sleder but strong hands took the cards from her and he spread them in a line, all of the over-lapping slightly. Patiently he watched as she picked the five cards, and he put the rest of the deck away. He then layed the five cards face-down on the bed, so that they made a horseshoe shape. Keiji clapped his hands together, looking excited,
"Alright, let us see what they have to say."
He gave her a quick wink, then reache down and touched the card at the bottom to his left of the horeseshoe. Keiji flipped it over, then flipped the next and the next until they are all facing up. "The hanged man. Page of Wands. Three of Swords. The moon. And the king of four cups."
Keiji chewed on his lip, studying the spread of cards for a few moments. He touched the first card, "This first card represents the present. The hangman means sacrifice, acceptance, patience, prospective change or understanding, peace, trust, devotion, and vulnerability."
He looked up as his second hand went to the next card, "The second card represents expectations. Page of wands respresents new project, development, enthusiastic learning, and impulsive. Card number three repesends the unexpected. The three of swords stands for heartbreak, disappointment, sorrow, pain, seperation and lonelyness." Keiji bit his lip for a moment, not looking at her, "Card number four represents the near future. The moon means hidden, unclear, illusion, instinctual, wild, nightmares or fears. And the last card represends the far future, and the king of cups means deep understanding, compassion, tolerant, calm exterior, diplomatic, and considerate."

Ronja pursed her lips. Fear, misunderstanding, sacrifice and change.... All she could see there was what had happened to Rad, she'd been broken and she was going to change, but she would pull through. Ronja was determined to pull out better than before, and no silly cards would tell her differently. The future was unclear, of course, how could it not be? And it all ended up alright in the end. Right? Isn't that basically what he'd told her?
She looked thoughtfully at the cards, and though she was a bit of a skeptic, she couldn't help but wonder a little. Was her near future going to be as bad as her recent past? Could she handle that? If this happened again, she'd be in trouble... She wasn't sure she could recover from that. Ronja would have liked to think she could, but this had shown her how weak she really was. Even though she was getting close to healed enough to be able to leave her room. But she'd never been this hurt, body, mind and spirit. Like a tamed wild horse, could she get herself back?
"Thank you Keiji," is what she said to fill the silence. Ronja wasn't sure what else would be appropriate here, she had no idea what to say about the cards, about her life, anything...

He stared at the cards for a few moments. Keiji now knew of Radella, and he knew of Ronja's encounters with Nicholas and Apollo of the Atra fae. So maybe the cards hadn't held good news after all. He brought himself to look up when she said thank you, and he bit his lip. Dammit. He shouldn't have brought out the cards...
"Ah...try not to take only the negative meanings into consideration...some of this is good..." He motioned to the hangman card, "I think this is a representation of patience and peace. You have to wait to get better, and nothing is going to bother you while you do so...."
On impulse he reached over and took her hand, trying to yet again comfort her through physical touch, "I won't let her touch you."
It was true that they had not been friends for an awfully long time, but he felt closer to her than he would with just any new aquaintance. She felt to him like...a kindred spirit. They were alike in many ways, from his point of view at least. Keiji was known for being protective of his friends --though he had few of them-- he cherished and protected them. He brought her hand up and pressed his lips to her knuckles. He was smiling brightly when he lowered her arm and released her hand.

Ronja nodded lightly and put her hand on his arm. "And for a little peace, I will be grateful." She knew she needed to heal and she would do it as long as nothing tempted her out of bed. However, she fully intended to go to the Atra halloween ball no matter what. Even if she hated Atra, even if Rad was there. Ronja was determined to be there, at least for a while.
She smiled at him softly, leaning forward to rest her head against his chest. "I know you won't. You are a good friend." Her hand still felt warm from his kind kiss and she inhaled into his shirt. He smelled like the outdoors. What she wouldn't give to be outside in the sun again. But she was healing, and eventually she'd be allowed out again.
She just had to try and get better first. Which was harder than she would have liked.
