Keiji wasn't one to get skiddish at physical contact or even physical intimacy. In stead he took comfort and security from it. And that was what he was feeling now as Ronja placed her head to his chest. He smiled softly and shifted their bodies so they could lay back against her pillows.
Keiji slipped one arm under her head, and placed the other arm over her waist. To anyone who did not know them, they would look like lovers. But they were not, they were friends. Most fae and kelpie are equally intimate and physical. Anyone who was aware of this fact wouldn't find their physical proximity surprising, even as friends. But even so, the assumption that they were lovers would always come before the assumption that they were friends or aquaintances.
He felt no need for words, so he just lay there. Surprisingly Keiji found himself drifting off to sleep. Maybe he should have taken off his coat, but he was too lazy and comfortable for that now. Unless Ronja complained about the feel of his jacket that was. He hoped that if he fell asleep, he didn't move and hurt her. As far as he knew he didn't move when he slept, and none of his lovers had ever complained about him thrashing in his sleep. Then again none of his lovers had been injured the way Ronja was.
His mind soon went quiet, and his eyes drifted closed. He found himself falling into a dreamless sleep, comforted by the feel of a nother body near to him, and the warmth emitting from it.

Nicholas felt guilty for not spending more time with Ronja. In the past, he’d never really minded all the duties required of him -- giving music lessons, performing at special events, and just generally being available. After all, what else was he going to do? But now, with a new love affair and a sick friend both vying for his attention, Nicholas found himself struggling to fit everything into his schedule. The hours between dawn and dusk had rarely seemed so short.
Fortunately, one of Nicholas’s pupils had decided to run off rather than attend her lesson, giving him a few hours of free time. Time which he intended to spend cheering up Ronja. After being admitted by her maid, Nicholas crept into the bedroom -- if Ronja wasn’t awake, he didn’t want to disturb her. And, indeed, Ronja appeared asleep. But what Nicholas hadn’t expected to see was a young man lying in bed with her. Nicholas’s eyebrows jumped up like a pair of startled caterpillars. At first, he didn’t know what to think. Then he felt a pang of admiration. Even confined to her bed, Ronja had managed to find a lover. She was truly impressive.
Nicholas knew that he should sneak back out and leave them in peace. But his curiosity wouldn’t let him depart quite yet. Instead, he stepped closer, studying Ronja’s latest conquest. Nicholas didn’t recognize the young man, so he wasn’t a prominent member of the Argentum court. But surely he wasn’t Atra -- after everything Ronja had been through, Nicholas couldn’t imagine her getting intimate with anyone from the Dark Court. Perhaps a minor noble? Or an ambassador from some other location? One of the young man’s ears poked through his blonde hair, allowing Nicholas to see that it wasn’t pointed. Could Ronja’s new lover possibly be mortal?
Since it seemed unlikely that he’d learn anything more by just staring at the couple, Nicholas turned to go. Unfortunately, he stepped on a small plastic house -- a stray piece from one of the board games he’d brought to amuse Ronja. Crushed beneath his boot, the house broke with a noisy crunch, and Nicholas froze.

Ronja didn't even remember falling asleep, she just remembered Keiji's warm arms around her and laying back into the softness of her bed. He was rather comfortable, though there was a bit of his jacket that would no doubt leave indents on her skin. But no harm no foul. She was comfortable and he'd come to find out what had happened to her, to keep her company. Ronja hadn't even remembered the cards until something loud woke her up and she felt Keiji's arms around her. At first she couldn't remember what happened. Had they had a romantic turn of events? Then she noticed the cards, no, she'd simply fallen asleep on him.
That's when she saw Nicholas. Her two good friends in one place they would finally get to meet! Ronaj grinned, amused by Nicholas's worried face. "Nicholas!" She said with a grin patting the bed lightly as she sat up to indicate that he should come over. She was so glad to see him, he was busier than she ever remembered. She then turned to her kelpie companion and shook him, "Keiji, wake up. I want you to meet my best friend." Ronja said. Had she ever told Nicholas that he was her best friend? She'd never had a friend as true as he was.

His dream was dreamless and very restful. It'd been a while since he'd slept beside another warm body, and the physical proximity of another being comforted him enough so that he could sleep like this in a bed that was not his own. Keiji often times had troubles sleeping in a bed other than the one he slept in most nights. He didn't move once he drifted off, his arms remaining around her.
When Nicholas stepped on the plastic house, making the only sound he'd heard in some time, Keiji didn't wake, however he started dreaming. The dream was not entirely pleasant. All the talk of Radella brought back memories of that wrech. He hated her, probable the most out of all the Atra. Though when he thought about it, she and Arethusa had always had a run for first place. Now that Radella had hurt his new friends, she'd won the gold metal. If war were to break out --which it most likely would-- he would make sure to encounter the other atra and cause as much damage as he was capable of.
When Ronja shook him in order to wake him, Keiji's eyes shot open and he sat up rather abruptly. His body was tense, ready to attack anything that may bring them harm. His eyes locked first on Ronja, confirming that she was alright, and then on Nicholas. Once he recognized the new figure in the room to be the court bard, Keiji relaxed.
Ronja introduced Nicholas as his best friend, and Keiji gave the bard a nod of acknowledgement. He rolled his shoulders, having become a little stiff due to sleeping with the jacket. Kejij shrugged it off and laid it across his lap, not exposing his white dress shirt.
"It is nice to officially meet you."
Keiji recognized him, but he doubed that Nicholas knew anything about him. He just didn't seem like the type to pay attention to anything like that. Keiji had often heard that the mortal focused on nothing but his music.

Nicholas smiled when Ronja shook her companion awake. It seemed unlikely that the young man would be as eager to meet him as Ronja was to make introductions. Still, Nicholas couldn’t help feeling a little flattered by her enthusiasm. And he was curious about the person Ronja had just referred to as Keiji.
"It is nice to officially meet you."
“The pleasure is mine,” Nicholas assured, giving a small bow. Keiji’s words provided several clues to his identity. Apparently he’d heard of Nicholas -- which meant he probably wasn’t a foreign diplomat. Nicholas simply couldn’t believe that his fame had spread to other parts of the world. But that still left a lot of possibilities, and Nicholas didn’t want to insult Keiji by guessing the wrong one. For now, he would just gather more information.
Glancing between Ronja and Keiji, Nicholas tried to get a feel for the situation. Was he intruding? Would they prefer to be alone? If someone barged into the room while he was cuddling with Ellylon, Nicholas certainly wouldn’t ask them to pull up a chair and stay awhile. But he trusted Ronja to be honest with him. She usually spoke her mind, and if she wanted private time with Keiji, she would surely make her desires known.
“I’m sorry to disturb your sleep,” Nicholas apologized. Even if neither Ronja nor Keiji were particularly upset by his intrusion, Nicholas still felt a little guilty. Sheepishly, he bent over, picking up a piece of the small plastic house. “Guess I lost this the last time I was here.”
Absently, Nicholas slipped the piece of plastic into his pocket. Then he walked over to the bed and sat down in the spot Ronja had indicated. From this vantage, Nicholas could study Keiji even more closely. The young man seemed handsome enough, although his features were more feminine than what Ronja usually preferred. Perhaps the ordeal with Radella had changed her taste in men. “Well, Keiji -- I hope you won’t consider this prying, but I have to ask. How did you and Ronja meet?” Nicholas kept his tone light, so that Keiji could simply laugh off the question if he didn’t feel like answering. “Has the maid been smuggling young men into her room when I’m not around?”

Ronja smiled lightly as Nicholas came to sit down. She'd enjoyed that game with the little houses, perhaps the three of them could play at some point. That is if the two men got along, sure they had her friendship in common but that didn't mean they would be friends. Hopefully though they wouldn't be enemies. Things seemed alright thus far.
Ronja answered his question before Keiji had a chance to answer either. "Hardly, the guards keep not letting him in." Ronja rolled her eyes lightly. Because really, just because he was kelpie didn't mean he was a threat. "We met after the so called peace ceremony, a couple days after. He was in the courtyard as a horse, he's a kelpie you know, and well I challenged him to a race... did I win?" She asked Keiji, turning her head toward him. "And he came to check on me when the rumors reached him. Funny how fast you make friends." She gave him a smile so he didn't doubt for a moment that she thought he was a very good friend.
Then she looked back at Nicholas. "How are the lessons going? Got any brats among them? I'd set them straight." Ronja grinned lightly. She liked kids to a degree, but she wasn't exactly the relaly maternal type. She planned on having a few someday though.

He watched both Ronja and Nicholas, their body language, their words, while making it seem as if he really wasn't watching at all. Before he had time to gather his thoughts and piece the proper words together, Ronja answered the bard's question for him. It was a sort of relief, for Keiji felt a little stumped on how to properly communicate with Nicholas. He'd heard that he and the former queen were now lovers, but in what sort of position at court did that put him? Was Nicholas above or below him. Perhaps he would keep the nicities neutral, and hope that the bard was not above him and got him in trouble for it.
In a few sentences Ronja explained how they met and what he was. Nicholas would have most likely figured it out eventually. His ears were rounded, like those of a mortal, but he was immortal. That didn't leave many options. Once the bard would have known he was an immortal, there would have been no question as to what sort of creature he was. Keiji wondered suddenly if Nicholas was one to dislike Kelpie...
He supposed he would be able to tell by either Nicholas' reaction to the news, or the manner in which he composed his next words. Ronja had asked a question that partained to Nicholas alone, and she had told the bard all there was to know about herself and Keiji's meeting. So he kept his mouth shut, deciding to just continue to watch them, sitting comfortably close to Ronja.

A kelpie. That certainly explained the rounded ears. Nicholas had always been a little wary around kelpies, due to their unfortunate habit of drowning mortals for fun. But he didn’t regard them with the same all-encompassing loathing which he lavished on the atra fae. ‘Kelpie’ described a species, not an alignment, so it seemed likely that there were some good ones in amidst the crazies. And if Keiji had come to visit Ronja when he learned that she’d been hurt, then he must be a decent fellow.
“Ah yes. Ronja does love a good race.” Nicholas gave Keiji a friendly smile. “She and I used to run together every morning. Unfortunately, if she didn’t hold herself back, I’d never be able to keep up. I’m glad that she’s met someone who can really challenge her.”
Nicholas remembered that first morning, when he’d watched Ronja sprint across a field. She’d truly been in her element then; strong and graceful as a wild animal. Being confined to her bed must be a terrible hardship. Nicholas did his best to make the time pass faster, but he knew she probably felt like a beast trapped in a cage. Maybe that was something she shared with Keiji. Nicholas didn’t posses much of a wild side -- even for a mortal, he was quite tame. But he’d heard that the spirit of an unbroken horse lived inside every kelpie. Maybe Keiji could better understand what Ronja was going through.
"How are the lessons going? Got any brats among them?”
A soft chuckle escaped Nicholas. “There are a few. Most of them have never taken orders from a mortal, so they rebel. They try to glamour me or play fairy tricks. Last week, one of them put a frog in my jacket pocket.” Nicholas shrugged. “I don’t let it bother me. If they want to learn, they’ll learn. If not -- well, I don’t mind being a glorified nanny for an hour or so.”
Nicholas’s gaze went back to Keiji. He’d been very quiet since introducing himself. Was he shy? Being rather shy himself, Nicholas possessed great sympathy for fellow sufferers. Hoping to draw Keiji into the conversation, Nicholas directed a question at him. “Are you a member of the Argentum Court? If so, you’ll have to forgive me for not recognizing you. I don’t socialize much.”

Ronja smiled, at least he had a good attitude about his students, she was trying to breeze over Keiji, not because she wanted to ignore him, it was just she had no idea how Nicholas was about kelpies. She wasn't trying to exclude him, she just was making sure he wasn't in the spotlight, she didn't want him to feel they were picking on him. But she'd never known him to be so quiet. Not that she knew him all that well anyway... but he didn't seem the shy type. Ronja placed a hand on the closest thing she could reach, his leg and patted it gently. Trying to tell him it was okay, why was he so guarded?
"Good to know you're handling things Nicholas," She nodded lightly. And the Nicholas asked Keiji a question and she wasn't going to answer for him again, it was rather rude and she hadn't even meant to the first time. then she was excited and now she a bit worried. Hopefully they would get along.
Ronja looked at Keiji, she knew he was Argentum but it hardly seemed fair to keep butting him out of conversation. She didn't even mean to.
