Her name was Ronja. It was a lovely name, and it nudged at him, as if it was supposed to remind him of something. He watched her as she said his name, and it suddenly came to him. She was the lady of the court who'd been involved with Nicholas the bard. Rumours of the night when the bard and her had a fight in front of numerous guests had circulated the court for weeks.
He kept any of the knowledge from showing on his face, watching her intently as she spoke of him having a nicknames. He had none, unless one couted 'creature' or 'monster' as nicknames. But he kept his mouth shut about it, simply shaking his head, then watching her again as she spoke again.
She didn't mind nuditiy? Well Keiji was comfortable standing in the water as he was, but he supposed he'd be even more comfortable if he were to sit beside her on the soft grass. A friendly smile played over his lips and he slowely waded out of the water. In a way he was unconsciously playing a strip-tease, slowly revealing inch after inch of skin to her. He didn't mean to be a tease, or anything of that sort, it was part of his nature in a way. The rest of his body matched the physique of his chest, toned but not overly muscular. His skin was soft and the pale colour that was common for most of the fae.
He took a few more steps and he was out of the stream, water dripping over his naked form. Keiji gracefully seated himself beside her and leaned back on his elbows.
"I don't have any nicknames....and yes my alliances lie with the Argentum court."

Ronja regarded him as he waded out of the water, he did so very slowly, and that gave her plenty of time to memorize him, even if she probably shouldn't be looking so closely. But she was a sensual creature, and this wouldn't put her off at all, so she didn't bother to change her ways for him. But she tried not to look too long at anything, and as he sat beside her, her dark eyes rested on his face.
"Well, can I give you a nickname? Like, Kei or something, just for when I'm too lazy to say Keiji?" She asked. Normally she might have just called him whatever she wanted, but she felt the need to ask. Ronja already liked him quite a bit, and if she was bothering to make up a nickname, she obviously would like to see him again. If not just to run with. She waited for a response and kicked off her little slippers, sticking her toes into the grass, letting some hair fall out of her ponytail and into her face as she looked at her knees for a moment.
"Alrighty, awesome, that means if I ever want to see you again I don't have to sneak around." Ronja flashed him a grin. "Though, the challenge would ahve been fun." She shrugged lightly.

'Well, can I give you a nickname? Like, Kei or something, just for when I'm too lazy to say Keiji?'
A melodious chuckle left his lips --undoubtably male though it had a lovely ring to it-- and he nodded, "Yes, it's alright if you call me Kei." His eyes were alight with amusement, "Though maybe say it quietly while we're at court...I don't want to give them any reason to make fun of me."
If he were to make a choice between people fearing him and people laughing at him, he'd rather they qucked in their boots! His parents had worked for the Atra court, and they'd never been shown proper respect. When they'd died in the war, their loss had been swatted aside like an annoying insect. None of the atra had bothered to bury them, they'd simply been thrown into a pond, along with the other kelpie that had fallen in battle.
He brought his mind back to the present, studying Ronja. She realy didn't seem to mind his being so nude in front of her. He'd seen her looking as he'd come out of the water, and he hadn't been offended, though rather pleased. It had boosted his ego a little one could say.
When he spoke of sneaking out to see him, the amusement returned to his eyes. She really was friendly, and her wish to be close to him seemed genuine. There was no sexual tension between them, though he appreciated the curve and grace of her body and she'd obviously appreciacted the appearance of his. In a way they'd acknowledged each other as sensual creatures, but they did not feel a sexual pull toward one another. A perfect recipe for friendship. That thought nearly made him fall onto his back laughing, but he remained leaning on his elbows and kept the laugh to himself.
"But does that mean that I'm permitted to make a nickname for you in turn?"

Ronja smiled. "I promise, I won't call you that in public, shall I call you Keiji the Magnificent or perhaps, Keiji the Terrible.?" She was totally teasing him, she was aware that those were just as bad, but she needed a good laugh, and so she did, a tiny eruption of soft bells leaving her throat. This was a good beginning, and she was glad for it. She'd never really known what a true friend really was until she met Nicholas, and it felt the same here and now with Keiji, without the sexually interesting past that she had with the bard.
When he asked his question she scrunched up her face, she was so much more playful and less proud outside, it was almost frightening. her dignified air was much looser, and she hardly acted the way she did most of the time. "I suppose it's only fair, but I really prefer Ronja. Call my Ronnie and I might attack you." She was serious, but she couldn't manage to come off as such, she just gave him a lazy smile, waiting to see what he came up with.
She couldn't remember a time when anyone called her a nickname unless they were taunting her in a fight or something. It was sort of exciting, in a strange way. Normally, simple things did not excite her in the slightest.

Another laugh left his lips, and he almost let himself fall back into the grass. He kept himself leaning back on his elbows however, completely comfortable being naked like this beside his new friend. It was odd. One would think that someone would be most confident or comfortable nude in front of someone they felt lust or love for... Keiji gave a mental shrug and stowed that thought to the back of his mind, to be considered later.
He did that every now and then, when he didn't have the time or concentration to consider something or figure out a question, he would push it to the back of his mind, and when he was alone laying on his bed, he would close his eyes and try to unravel whatever it was that had puzzled him. Being in the argentum court for most of his time, the things that puzzled him most were riddels. Some of the royals had a sick licking for speaking in riddles, and though it annoyed him immensly, he would still take the time to unravel them (no matter how long it took). Perhaps he didn't want to seem stupid, for not understanding their confusing speech. That was probably it.
"Keiji the Terrible...that has a nice ring to it."
He gave a small laugh and winked at her, the gesture being completely platonic. Keiji wasn't flirting, for if he had been, Ronja would have been fully aware of it. He wasn't vain or arrogant, he just knew that he made it evident when he found interest in a male or a female. That was all.
"Ronnie! Aweee...common. I can't call that even if it's just me and you?" He had a playful expression on his face as he leaned a little closer to her, not trying to get into her personal space, but more like a friend leaning in to tell another friend a secret.

Ronja laughed as he inched closer to her. Closeness to a man had never bothered her, but she found herself blushing. Maybe she was just unused to talking to a male who wasn't trying to flirt with her, who wasn't attracted to her. Granted, Nicholas didn't flirt with her, but they had romantic tension. that was not the case with this Kelpie. It was nice, relaxing and she found herself smiling but biting her lip.
"Only when its just us." She agreed. Ronja had detested the name Ronnie, but she figured she could let it slide for him. Maybe she'd hate it less when he used it. She raised her eyebrows and leaned in toward him just as he was doing. She bopped his nose lightly with hers before giggling and laying back in the grass.
"So, tell me about yourself Keiji the Terrible." Ronja said looking up at him. She'd never really spoken to Kelpie before, at least not outside of some courtly event. And this was about as far as you could get from a courtly event. A smile danced over her lips as she waited for his response, drinking in the sunshine through her skin.

'Only when it's just us.'
If he where speaking to someone he felt a physical pull to, that line would have had an almost entirely different meaning. But there was no physical pull, therefore her words merely held amusement, and a sort of friendly sharing. Keiji was content. Bright blue eyes watched with amusement as she leaned in and touched her nose to his. A laugh left his lips and he follwed her with his gaze as she fell back into the grass. He remained resting on his elbows, feeling a light breeze move over is bare skin.
He would probably need to change back into his horse form too, wouldn't want to get sick. "Great! I will call you nothing but Ronnie when we're alone!" He tilted his head back, looking up at the sky, laughter in his eyes. He definitely was in a very good mood on this day. Ronja's presence had made it all that much better.
"Tell you about myself?" His lips pressed together into something very much resembling a pout as he thought it through, "My parents were part of the Atra court....and they died in the war. When the Atra didn't show any remorse or concern for their death, I left their ranks and contacted Queen Ellylon."
His eyes no longer held laugher as he shared his story, though his head was still tilted back, gaze on the sky. So thankfully she wouldn't see the change, "I shared everything I knew of the Atra court's plans in the war, and in exchange, she offered me the protection of the Argentum court. I could work for her, and stay in the palace." He forced laughed back into his expression, "The end. Now tell me about you!" Keiji turned his head and let it tilt to the side, his cheek pressing to his own shoulder so he could look at her.

Ronja listened politely as he told her his story. Stupid, ungrateful Atra bastards... But it was an interesting fact, he sold Atra information to become an Argentum. This made sense to Ronja, no use protecting the secrets of a group you despise and are no longer a art of anymore. but seemed quick to change the subject.
"Me?" Ronja repeated, sitting up. What was there to tell? She tried to think of a clear, consise way to say something about herself. "Well... I'm a Lady at court, not a very high up one, but decently so. I'm known for going to almost every party that's been thrown. Recently the rumors about me pertain to the bard and an Atra named Apollo.... I love to run, I love to dance. I'm 180 years old, a bit of a flirt---very much a flirt-- and I like a challenge."
She realized they had both taken that question differently. Keiji had said who he was in terms of history, Ronja had given him a little personality trait list.. sort of... Oh well. The wind was a little brisk and she wondered if he was cold, too bad she had nothing to offer him.

Keiji noticed the difference in perspective as she told her story. He'd delved into his background, while she'd given him what was going on with her in the present tense. He wasn't sure how he felt about that. Keiji wasn't one to blurt out his past like that, but he'd feel a sort of kinship with her. The kelpie culdn't help but feel that she was maybe hiding something, but he didn't have the right to be nosy about it. Ronja probably had her reasons. He watched her intently as she spoke, then nodded and turned his gaze back to the sky.
He'd heard rumours about her and the court bard, as well as her and the atra knight at the peace ceremony. Keiji hadn't been invited to that, and he felt a little bitter about it, but other than that he was curious. He didn't want to think of her as someone who got around, besides it was just two men. So he kept his opinion of her a positive one.
A slightly stronger breeze brought a wave of goosebumps over his bare skin, and Keiji shivered a little. It was definitely not summer any longer, and the slightly warm slightly cold of fall was also passing. Winter was well on its way, and even for an immortal it was a bad idea to be out in this cold without clothes for too long. The sun was out, and it helped a little, but that breeze had sent spikes of cold all the way to his bones.
Keiji gave Ronja an apologetic look, "It is too cold for me to be this bare any longer. I will change back into a horse to avoid a cold. Let me escort you to the castle, and then I must take care of some business." He gave her a slight bow, she was a lady after all, "I am sure we will meet again." He gave her a charming smile, then got to his feet, took some steps away from her and began the transformation. His skin flower, grew, shifted, and within moments he stood there as a white stallion once more.
He neighed, then ran back to the palace alongside Ronja. Perhaps he'd made a new friend on this day, or perhaps this sort of social contact had been one of a kind and she would shun him in the days to come. No way to know, he'd simply wait and see.
