Fae are anchient creatures They've starred in myths and bedtime stories for centuries upon centuries. In these tales they are depicted from being thumb sized being with little translucent wings to being the size of humans and loving the taste of mortal flesh. Most like to believe the first depiction, however the latter is closer to how these creatures truly are. In anchient times, all Fae had wings growing out of their back, however that trait has been dying out for some time, and now a mere 10% of the entire population posess wings. Just like humans, they vary in personalities, ideals, tastes. Some will be good and some will be bad. This brings us to the Fae Courts. The most common names for the two courts are the Seelie and the Unseelie court. Another less common version is the Argentum and the Atra court, which is in fact the names the two groups go by.

ARGENTUM
While these Fae are most certainly not innocent, they are considered to be "better" than the Atra Fae. The Fae who are a part of this court have a particular liking for swapping human babies with sickly babies of their own. The sickly Fae that are left in the place of the kidnapped human child are known as CHANGELINGS. These Fae will only occasionally take a full grown mortal from their kind. However if they chose to, simply feeding a human some of the Fae food and then continuing to feed them Fae food will make them slave to the Fae.

ATRA
This court holds the worst of the worst of Fae. They only respect their queen, often times attacking and even killing each other in pointless fights. They love kidnapping humans and them feeding them Fae food in order to force them to stay (though some prefer to stay of their own will). Once the mortal is theirs, they will either be a slave (working in the kitchens, with the seamstress, cleaning crew, or a slaves with a more 'sensual' sort of occupation) or they are simply killed for sport. Atra Fae will rarely kidnap a human child and leave a sickly of their own in their place, though it does happen. The Atra live beneath the ground, large halls and rooms carved out of the earth.

SOLITARY
The Solitary Fae are rare, or they simply keep themselves away from everyone, making themselves appear rare. They chose not to be under a court, hence the name solitary.

All Fae are immortal, which means that they will never die of old age, only if they are murdered or fall sick. All Fae have magical ability, ranging from a lot to very little. Usually they use their magic to disguise their appearance when they are among humans, or to make themselves invisible. This use of magic is known as GLAMOUR. All Fae have the same type of magic force, a bringing together of energy that they then use for whatever they choose. Some will use their magic to hurt humans, while others for example would use it to grow trees and plants.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

• all Fae have pointed ears, and it's the main thing they will hide with glamour from the mortals
  
• only 10% of the entire population of Fae has wings, and if they do they are more for decoration than for actual use...meaning that they would be useless if one meant to fly.
  
• most fae, whether they have wings or not, will have a very slight green shimmer on their shoulderblades (around their wings or where their wings should be).
  
• like humans, all fae differ in appearance (the only exception being twins, or a Changeling and the human child it replaced at their birth) so some could be extremely tall and some could be very short, most of them are of average height however.
  
• when it comes to clothing, Solitary fae will dress as they wish, and Court fae will most often prefer dresses (the queens and their ladies), armour (the knights), and traditional clothing. Material wise, their clothing can be made out of cotton, or out of spider web, leaves, flower petals, roots, and anything else one might think of.

POSSIBLE POSITIONS
one of the queen's ladies, one of the gentry (soldiers), a knight, a seamstress, a librarian, a fae worker, a slave care taker, a scholar, a messenger, a nurse for the fae children, (ask the main admin if you have any other positions that come to mind for your character).

C H A N G E L I N G S

They are sickly baby Fae left in the place of human children stolen by either the Argentum or the Atra Fae. They are placed under a strong glamour, making them appear like the human child that was stolen. Sometimes they survive, and sometimes they die. If they live, they grow up believing that they are mortal. Occasionally they discover that they are Fae and they develop their powers, while other times they never find out and continue living their life as a mortal, dying of old age like a mortal. Usually the cause of their finding out, is that they will occasionally catch glimpses of Fae from the corner of their eye throughout their life. Sometimes Fae will approach them and explain. Once they develop their powers, they either join the Argentum or the Atra court, or they stay a Solitary Fae.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
At birth, the Changeling will be glamoured to look as the child they replaced. But what happens if they discover they are Fae and that is not what they truly look like? If you wish to play a Changeling, you need to specify whether they know they are Fae or not, and if their appearance has not yet changed and you plan on changing their the near future, please make 2 face claims.

K E L P I E

It is often said that Kelpies are simply another type of Fae or that they are nymps. They choose to be simply known as Kelpies, a race of their own. Their main appearance is a horse, though they will often appear in their human form, usually to lure humans to them or to simply socialize. What they are known best for is convincing humans to ride on their back, taking them into the water and drowning them.
